A Madman In The Driver Seat
On the road trip of life
I often feel I’m a passenger
with my self gratifying ego at the wheel
determining both route and destination.
He’s clever & self absorbed
jaded by the traumas of his past
deep in his addictions of pleasure
ready for the next chance to turn shit up.
In circles and circles we go
doing donuts in the intersection
trapped in repetitive patterns of exhilaration & recovery
destroying car & road & passenger in the process.
But now is the time
I take back control of the wheel
this road trip is too precious to allow
a madman in the driver seat.
